- List your goals. Knowing what you are trying to achieve can help you decide what steps you need to take to get there. We recommend setting a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound) goal. If you aren’t sure what the specifics are for your goal, then a description of what you are trying to achieve and how you are going to achieve it works as well. It is better to have a general idea of what you want to achieve than no idea at all!
- Research your market. Do a little research on what has worked well for your business in the past, and what wasn’t as effective. Research trends that are emerging in your market and think about how your business could incorporate them into your marketing strategy for 2023. There are a lot of tools available for you to measure marketing analytics, such as Google Analytics.
- Learn about your customers. After all, your customers are key to your success. Try and define who your best customer would be. Knowing the demographics and interests of your target market can help you understand how to best reach them.

- Create a list of short-term goals that can help you to achieve your long-term goals from step 1. Completing these short-term goals help you with the overall success of your long-term goals, and therefore the success of your business.
- Determine the techniques you will use to achieve your goals. This step involves considering all of the marketing channels that you could use. When determining the technique it is important to consider what channels will reach your target audience, and achieve the desired result.
- Set your marketing budget. You want to be sure that you are spending enough money to reach your goals, but not be wasteful. Knowing your business’s past ROI (Return on Investment) for marketing campaigns can help you determine your budget for future campaigns. If you don’t have this data, setting a modest budget and tracking your ROI can be helpful for determining the success of your campaigns.
